William, Month Seven

Month seven was the month that everything seemed to come together for William.  He learned to crawl, to sit, to stand, and to "cruise" (that is, to walk while holding on to something). He started sleeping through the night again, and in his own room.  He got his first two teeth.  And his fussiness largely subsided.  Now that he can move and explore and play with toys and eat new foods, he's occupied and cheerful most of the day.

William started crawling a few days after his six-month birthday, while visiting Kidspace with my friend Amy and her niece Sydney.

After having longed to crawl for months, you'd think William would take some time to savor his triumph. But never one to be satisfied, the very same day he learned to crawl, William started trying to walk.

His first time standing:

Initially he would pull himself up to standing by climbing up people's legs.

William took awhile to get used to sleeping in his own crib in his own room, but now he's settled into a good routine - he sleeps there every night and for afternoon naps, while taking his morning nap in his car seat on the go.

Also this month, he met his grandparents Suzan and Naresh! Nana and Nani spent time with us this summer visiting Descanso Gardens, the Malibu tide pools, and the Hollywood Bowl, among other things.  They also watched William take his first Mommy and Me swim class (more photos from their visit to follow).

Happily eating lingonberry jam at IKEA:

For some reason, he seems to like kneeling (I don't remember either of the other kids kneeling as often as he does).

Playing with Cromwell:

William really, really loves toys:

(This is the same expression Arthur makes when he's really excited.)

Rocking out in his Friday music class:

And enjoying the beach:

Of course, this was also the month William took his first trip to the southern hemisphere, but that's a separate post.
