William, Month Nine

Happy nine months, William!

Another exciting month, this one including visits from Aubrey, Melissa, and his aunt Gillian, and a trip to the county fair.  But perhaps best of all, his first time in a ball pit! At Peekaboo Playland near another of his favorite places, Swork Coffee.

We've settled into a nice routine.  On Monday mornings William has his beloved baby music class, Melodies and Me, and on Tuesday mornings he goes with his brother to story time at the library.  The rest of the week he goes to the park or comes along with me on errands.  He loves Costco.

William's favorite things are his music class, going to the park, ball pits, Duplos, dumping all the dog toys out of their basket, and eating with his six new teeth.  Some of his favorite foods are pancakes, French fries, bagels, graham crackers, apples, pears, cheese, turkey, and ground beef.

He continues to try to walk.  He can now "cruise" with only one hand holding something, and a few times he's stood without holding anything for a few seconds, but his balance is still not quite there.

William went to his nine-month well baby appointment today to discover he is skinny (17 lbs, or 8th percentile) and tall (28 inches, or 67th percentile).  (At this age Beatrice and Arthur were skinny but also short.)  We discussed developmental milestones with his doctor - he's behind the average for talking, but ahead on standing and walking.  The doctor's theory is that he's just focusing all his energy on learning to walk, then hopefully "dada" and "mama" will follow close behind.

In the meantime, I can't wait for next month, William's first Halloween and first Halloween costume.
