After almost a year of house-hunting, organizing, planning, and packing, we have finally moved into our new house. Mostly - Dev is cleaning out the last dregs as we speak. It took about seven full truck loads, five helpers, and eight days so far, but we're pretty much settled now in the new place.
Since I'm now in the third trimester, I wasn't as big a help as I usually would be in the lifting-and-moving department, so we enlisted our friends Adam, Jeff, Zac, Rory, and Lucas. And we were able to borrow our friend Adrian's box truck the whole week to take loads between the old house and the new. Thank you guys all SO much!

Dev and Jeff enjoy some post-moving whiskey
These infants were not that helpful
Meanwhile our friend Leslie watched Beatrice on Saturday and Sunday so that she didn't get in the way. This was a huge help - I don't know how we would have done it otherwise. Then my parents came down on Sunday evening to take over Beatrice-watching during the coming week. Thank you guys!
Moving means Beatrice got to go to the zoo twice in one week
Beatrice was amused to find the rugs washed and airing on the lawn
Even though I'm very glad to be moving at last, I will miss our old house in Glendale. I lived there a little under three years, just beating out our Shanghai apartment for longest residence. Glenwood was a great house and even though our family has now outgrown it, the house and the neighborhood will still be missed.
Our old, empty house
I'll be sure to pay occasional visits to "my" Starbucks even though there are now at least two locations closer to my house.
Suzan sent some congratulatory flowers for our new home
