In which Beatrice does her "trick"

The Toddler Bed

Tonight is Beatrice's first night in her new toddler bed. We wanted to move her over into the new bed before Baby #2 comes, so that hopefully she'll associate the new bed with "big girl fun" and not "new baby eviction."

We put her to bed about an hour ago and it was almost suspiciously easy. We just put her under the covers, read her a book, gave her her pacifier*, and she seemed to settle right down and go to sleep. Seems a little too good to be true. So now we wait and see what kind of damage she does overnight...

*Beatrice adjusts remarkably well to almost all major changes, from solid food to trips overseas, but giving up the pacifier is proving to be the one thing she is not willing to do. We've gotten her down to (mostly) only using it when she's asleep, but I have no idea how we'll ever break her of that...

Beatrice Makes Lemonade

With lemons from our backyard tree. The lemons from that tree are so sweet that Beatrice often eats them straight - and we had to halve the amount of sugar I usually use in making lemonade.

This was not the most sanitary lemonade.

Baby Sprinkling and Weekend Away

This weekend Summer, Amy, and Amy hosted an absolutely beautiful baby "sprinkling" for Baby Kumar #2 at Amy Robb's house. Stephanie came out all the way from Wisconsin and my mom drove down from the Bay Area to join us.

All the guests made puff-ball animals and added them to a mobile for Baby #2

Then we all headed out for a girls' weekend away in Venice (much like last year's trip to Palm Springs). We did a lot of shopping (window- and otherwise), eating, and card-playing from our very chic room at the Hotel Erwin on the beach.
